(1/6) Instagram Adds Competitor Insights

This week’s updates from socials are not many but will definitely make your life easier.

First, Instagram has added competitor insights which will give anyone with a professional account the option to compare your account’s performance to up to 10 others. Users will be able to look at some basic data like follower count and posting volume, and while these are not that useful to most, it’s still an interesting move from the app.

It will be interesting to see Meta add other metrics like engagement and conversions, as that would be way more valuable to both brands and creators.

(2/6) TikTok Adds Save Option During Creation Process

Next, we have TikTok.

The video platform is making content creation seamless with this new update.

Apparently, now users will be able to save their videos while they’re editing them on the app. This could be a great tool for agencies when receiving content from campaigns!

(3/6) Celebrity Gift Guides Arrive On Pinterest

In the past few years, Pinterest has become the go-to place for gift guides for the holiday season, and this time they are fully tapping into the power of influencers and celebrities.

Apart from the usual “budget friendly gifts for your boyfriend”, this year you can also find Pamela Anderson’s or Selena Gomez’s gift guides. And yes, to no one’s surprise, the last one is full of Rare Beauty’s products.

This is a fantastic way of partnering with celebrities and influencers, as audiences will relate to them and know what they’re looking for straight away on the app. If you haven’t thought about influencer partnerships for your holiday strategy, make sure to reach out to the team today! info@purplegoatagency.com

(4/6) Tesco Wins Channel 4 Diversity in Advertising Award

Channel 4’s Diversity in Advertising Award this year has gone to Tesco! Their strategy is to change the way we produce recipes, so the kitchen is a place everyone feels welcome in.

With this innovative idea, that answered the awards’ brief ‘Inclusive by Design’, Tesco has won one million pounds to use on advertising space across C4 (the win was in collaboration EssenceMediacom and BBH).

We always shout about the amazing work that the team at Channel 4 are doing (including the Paris Paralympics ad we worked on!), and these awards are a call out to the industry to do better and don’t leave inclusion as an afterthought!

(6/6) Campaign Spotlight: Lidl πŸ†

The Christmas ads are doing the rounds already, and this week we’ve decided to highlight Lidl’s, with a focus on the value of sharing joy during the holiday season 🎁

Because it’s not just about what you want, but about what will make others happy.

The ad also highlights Lidl’s Toy Bank where customers can donate toys to those who might need them, and share the joy outside of your own home. A beautiful ad with a beautiful meaning!
