(1/6) “Inclusion Isn’t Difficult When You Have The Right Voices In The Room”

Purple Goat turned 5 this year 🎂!

Founder, Martyn Sibley and Global Client Director, Dom Hyams reflected on half a decade of inclusive marketing for The Media Leader. They emphasised that genuine inclusion in marketing isn’t difficult when you include the right voices in the room. Brands can’t afford to ignore inclusion, and working directly with the community is essential to avoid tokenism and drive meaningful impact and powerful results in campaigns.

(2/6) ICYMI: How the world views disability vs how it actually is

This is a particularly exciting episode of The Purple Goat Podcast, especially with July being Disability Pride Month. The team discusses common stereotypes around disability, and share their own experiences and identities and how they’ve changed throughout the years.

(3/6) Meta Introduces Video Selfie Age-Checking

As more regions introduce rules to control the use of under-age users on social media, Meta is now rolling out a video selfie age-checking system. This will make users under 18 submit an ID or a video selfie that will be analysed to estimate their age.

Even though it’s hard to figure out how exact this method will be, it will definitely be a powerful tool to create safer online spaces, especially for teenagers. What do you think about it?

(4/6) Instagram Tests Auto-Scroll Option

A bit of a controversial one from Instagram…

The platform is testing a new feature that, when activated, would allow users to auto-scroll on their feeds. Even though this could be very handy and accessible in many situations, especially when you struggle to use your hands to consume content (either because you’re busy getting your nails done, or because you have dexterity issues), it raises a concern around overconsumption and mindless scrolling.

(5/6) Trend Spotlight: “You look happier”

Even though the sun has decided to take a bit of a break across the UK, there are many things in life that bring us joy! Whatever it is, a new puppy, setting boundaries in your life, or a recent move, use this trend to share that thing that changed your mood for the better ☀️.

(6/6) Campaign spotlight: Polaroid

“No one on their deathbed ever said: I wish I’d spent more time on my phone” or “Doesn’t connect to the cloud, does connect to each other” are some of the quotes used in the latest refreshing campaign from Polaroid, called “The Camera for an Analogue Life”, which introduces the launch of the new Flip instant camera.

The billboards invite people to rediscover tangible, imperfect analog moments over curated online content, it’s a beautiful campaign to promote real-life connection!
