Disabled writer, Cathy Reay, has a new book coming out at the end of this month, ‘How to be Disabled and Proud’.
The book is a warm, funny and empowering guide to what you can expect growing up Disabled, and it teaches children to advocate for a more accessible and inclusive world. Cathy examines the challenges faced by Disabled children, touching on issues like bullying and discrimination, offering practical advice to help readers through tough times.
The book is aimed at children aged 9+ to read together with their families, a great way to learn alongside your support system.
We cannot wait for this one!

The never ending debate on social media: how long should your videos be?
We know social media is an ever changing industry, but at the moment users seem to be engaging more and more with videos up to 3 minutes on the video platform. And yes, that might not be a “long video” for some of you, but it definitely is for a platform like TikTok.
Buffer has found that videos longer than one minute get “63.8% more watch time than videos in the 30-60 second range“. This same shift can be seen across platforms, with Instagram recently extending the length to Reels up to 3 minutes.
So yes, you will have to adapt your stratey to these updates, but if you feel lost and want to make sure your social campaigns get the best results, the team at Purple Goat can help you get some amazing business results!

This might not be the latest marketing news, but it impacts the Disabled community greatly.
The proposed cuts to disability benefits threaten the independence and financial security of thousands of Disabled people across the UK. You can get involved by signing Scope’s petition below to show the Government you are against these cuts.
Similarly, brands and businesses must step up, championing accessibility and inclusion, supporting disabled talent, and using their platforms to drive meaningful change. Let’s ensure disabled people are heard, valued, and empowered.

In more positive news, Disabled artist, Jason Wilsher-Mills, has been shortlisted for a Museum and Heritage Award for his exhibition ‘Are We There Yet’.
Wilsher-Mills explored his experiences as a Disabled person and created paintings with computer tablets that were then transformed into large, interactive sculptures.
You can visit the exhibition at the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull. And good luck Jason!
Big moments call for big songs, and this one from Hozier is the perfect one to share some of your favourite moments.
For this year’s World Down Syndrome Day, CoorDown shared a new campaign focused on the importance of involving Disabled people in all sorts of decisions, from what to wear, to laws and policies. The Disabled community is the largest minority in the world, and too often decisions that will impact their day to day lives are made without them, so it’s time to start being truly inclusive and working with the community from the get-go!
We’re so excited about this one, and CoorDown has smashed it once again this year after their amazing ‘Assume that I can, so maybe I will’ last year.
As we always say, nothing about us, without us.
